Go Leoni!

OK - I know I'm supposed to think of the old TV thing as work and providing a service to you all out there, but I have to say that today, it was just plain fun!
I think at one point Leoni mentioned that we sometimes forget that the camera's are running, and you know what - we did! Don't know what it was like from your perspective - I'm sure it wasn't slick and without the odd 'blip', but I have to say what an absolute treat it was working with the lovely Leoni and her genuine passion and enthusiasm for the whole crafting caboodle.
I had been SO looking forward to working with her after having met her a couple of times 'out and about' and for me anyway, I loved every minute. Like I said, I LOVE what I do and sadly enough, my enthusiasm isn't just for the cameras, and you know what? Leoni is also the real deal. How can you not wish her all the best and every success with such 'what you see is what you get' passion?
Sorry if we were a bit too eager (:-)), but bring on the next show - hope they let us play a lot more!

Tiny Tin-Tastic and 11am Metal Show Tomorrow!

Because I NEED to sleep tonight before my stupid early start to Peterborough for a show at 11am (leave at 5am - yuck!), I know my conscience won't let me if I don't try to redeem myself as a halfway decent blogger and post pics from last week's show - so - here they are! Only thing is - I didn't make any of them!! How can I live with myself??? Actually, I did the original tins for the show, but because I'm living at Ideal World at the minute (:-)), the lovely and talented Karen Lines helped out big style and played really well with these lovely little gems.
I've picked out 3 of my favourites...

Love the simplicity of this one - green background with a simple tree from my Christmas Create-a-Scene plate which has been stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. Touches of red twinkles add a little decoration baubles style. Nice.

LOVE this one. Brown-y red background with leaves stamped and embossed in gold with autumn twinkles to accent. The flower has been stamped and embossed onto glossy card in gold then layered. I think this looks rather Victorian - wonder if I can smuggle it onto 'Bargain Hunt'?
I even get to keep my very own! How fab is this? Karen made this using die cut letters under the sticky foil, which, by the way you need to buy in a DIY shop - I bought mine in Liddle a few weeks back, and I think Sue Wilson found hers in Focus. If I can confirm who's selling it right now I'll post an update.
So there you have it - honestly, I did make quite a few for the show, just thought I'd showcase these 3 beauties from Karen - especially as she even made my own personal one WITH CHOCOLATES IN! Wonder how she knew I liked chocolate? :-)

Back at base ... briefly!

Pheee-yew! What a couple of weeks they were!
Have to say that I was just a bit worried about managing everything in the diary over the past two weeks. On reflection, if I wasn't as much of a 'stressmeister' and setting myself stupid standards, I would have achieved it anyway without the unnecessary pressure - do we ever learn? Anyway, the pick of the week was a HUGE success - yay, and thank you all for your feedback and support! (Worried about that one because it was my first ever), and my stay at Dawn's was, as usual, lovely (worried about that one because I was holding 6 different workshops over 3 days)! So, here I am, Sunday night and preparing for tomorrow's show at 3pm (not worrying about that one because it's only one show in a week! Almost a holiday:-))
Tomorrow's show is all about 'Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Thick Embossing Crystals'. I've had such fun playing with these - honestly, they're ultra thick embossing powder with super cosmic bling and the colours are amazing.
For the card above, I've used the powder to create the wax seal type effect, as well as the edging on the torn paper. I've also used the huge clear tub we have on the show to glaze the greeting - but, with a little bit of a 'cosmic' twist around the edges. This card is rather interesting - I used 'Vintage Photo', 'Aged Mahogany', and 'Pine Needles' Distress Inks on the background applied with good old Cut'n Dry Foam. Spritzed my stamp with water to remove some colour, then when dry, used some clean foam to apply a little Perfect Medium to the bottom left corner where I then sprinkled the fab jade green embossing crystals before heating from behind. Love the colours.
OK - there's a little insight into tomorrow's show. I'm home a couple of days next week before joining Sarah for her Craftaganza from Thursday to Saturday. Sounds like it's going to be a good one AND I get to meet up with some fab friends I don't get to see too often these days - should be a good laugh. I'll take the camera and report back:-)
I promise I'll be a better blogger and post within the week!

Feeling Much Better - Thank You:-)

The title says it all - phew!
I won't try to pretend that I had cold, sprained a finger, broke a nail.... oh no, you all know fine well why I couldn't make the show thanks to Denice's subtle reference - cheers Denice:-) How many times and ways did she paint the lovely picture of moi and my nasty little tummy problem on Sunday? Watched the recorded show yesterday and I was laughing so much at my total lack of dignity ... did I ever have any?lol
I felt so much for Sue - what a trooper! She stepped in at the last minute with only a brief run through of the demonstrations in between loo dashes and did a first class job. Honestly, I was so stressed all morning about how I was going to get through the show (which didn't help the severe headache much I can tell you), but when I finally resigned myself to the fact that no way on earth was it going to happen, I grabbed some sleep and things began to settle down - thank goodness! Anyway, we're planning on a repeat so I can make up for my previous 'blip'.
So, today I'm feeling absolutely fine - raring to go, which is a good thing because I have about a million Spellbinder dies to play with before Friday when we launch my first ever 'Pick of the Week' - wahoo! (I'll post about that when I have some samples to show you).

So THANK YOU ALL for your lovely posts, emails and comments - I really do appreciate them.

Great Show Tomorrow - Sue Wilson

Just wanted to give you all a quick 'heads up' on a show I think you'll all like tomorrow with my good friend Sue Wilson (Known to me as 'Ethel' of 'Ethel and Murray' fame:-)).
This one is SO not of that style though - the messy types amongst us (ahem), will have a ball with this one. She's going for it big style with alcohol inks (you may even see them demonstrated - I failed miserably on the metal show - no time!), micas, inks etc. As well as some stamp plates I LOVE. Wish I'd drawn them - but I didn't - would like to play with them though. All leafy, nature scenes - very classy little numbers.
So, there you have it - you all have a Sheena free week of craft telly, so I, hopefully like you will be sat watching with cup of tea in hand and unfortunately biscuits within reach to enjoy!

If you would like to see some samples, you could nip over to her blog for a sneaky peak: http://particraft.blogspot.com/

Web Shop Live Today!

The title says it all really.
Very excited because we've finally (well Russ has) loaded all of my personal favourite products on the website for you to purchase if required.
I've picked only the things I use very frequently and rate very highly - If I haven't personally used it and think it's fab, it's not there! I've also included the whole 'Cosmic Universe' of products - every one! Well, as I'm getting a bit of a reputation as the 'swirly cosmic' type, I thought it wise, so if you can't find it there, and it's of the 'Cosmic' variety, it hasn't been invented .... yet!
I also have a master plan - I want the site to be like a 'virtual visit from 'yours truly'' - (that's put an end to any hits right there then!). I've already started creating web videos explaining about products, clearing any confusion, and letting you know why certain items can save money in the long run - as well as some projects. The only thing is - Spielberg I'm not! Although I am trying to get my head around the video editing game, don't expect any special effects yet! I reckon that if I keep it simple, I'll get more done, hence more info and projects for you - I think that makes sense?
Also look out for weekly and monthly specials - we have a fab Luminarte launch special that will hopefully be posted along with a tutorial video tomorrow. Excellent product and a great price - over a third off! The point is - it won't be of any value, unless you know how to use it, which means I have to get 'Douglass Studios' cranked up for the foreseeable future... lights, camera and action....

I'm off to the Heelands!

Firstly - I apologise to all of you wonderful Scottish peeps out there for the dodgy accent in the title, but with a name like Sheena Douglass I should definitely be levitating north of the border me thinks? Reckon I could give Moira Anderson (how old am I?) a run for her money with my name!
Well, the purpose (eventually) for this post is to let you all know that I am doing my best to keep up the UK tour - the next stop being Scotland! Yay! I LOVE it up there. Had many a fab holiday in Perthshire in my youth - one of the best summers ever was spent in Kenmore where I actually learned to swim in loch Tay.
I've wandered off again haven't I? Sorry. I really just wanted to let you all know that I have a new workshop booked at the:

Isle of Skye Innkeepers Lodge,
18 Dundee Road,
Perth.
PH2 7AB

Date: 13th December (Christmas party theme methinks?:-))

Duration: Full day including Carvery Lunch.

Fee: £65

If you would like more info, please call on: 0191 4148012 or email me: info@sheenadouglass.com
More details are on the website: http://www.sheenadouglass.com/

Hope to see you there.
